Northeast Georgia Summer Guitar Camp 2016 Camp Faculty
Derwyn Browne, Director of the Childbloom Georgia Northeast program and the recipient of the Student Motivator Award for 2013 and 2014. Mr. Browne can be seen performing regularly with his resident guitar ensemble, Crystal Clear. "Mr. Browne", as he is affectionately and widely known in the community, will be conducting introductory classes for beginners, along with his specialty class on chord progressions for more advanced students.
Spirit Winds Records artist Russell Ferrara returns for his fourth year! A leading expert on music for ensembles of guitars, Russ will again be directing the camp ensembles. Russ is an active performer in the classical and New Age fields. His group Lackawanna Sky is completing its self titled first album and he is at work on a solo album of rock instrumentals which he has scored for classical guitar.
Dr. Kim Robson
Kim Robson, an accomplished flutist and vocalist, has performed on stages across the USA. As a soprano, she appeared as Sarah in the world premiere of Out of the Rain at Opera Delaware, plus Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring, Gianetta in L’Elisir d’Amore, Lucy in The Telephone, Amelia in Amelia Goes to the Ball; and toured the nation with American Family Theatre’s Beauty and the Beast. Locally, she is the soprano section leader and occasional flutist at St. David’s Church in Wayne, PA. Kim is assistant professor of music at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, where she directs the music program and conducts the choir, chamber choir, wind ensembles, and jazz band. This year Kim will conduct a vocal ensemble class, a new component to our camp.
Dana Rice is a local Singer/Songwriter and music educator specializing in piano and voice for young children and adults. Dana returns for her 6th year at our annual camp. She is a 2016 Finalist for the Unstoppable Woman Award. Mrs. Rice is also featured in the newly published book The Savvy Music Teacher by David Culter. In 2014 Mrs. Rice was chosen as a New children’s Music Presenter for the Gospel Music Workshop of America Convention and was a clinician for the GMWA National Children’s Choir which performed one of her original songs as well. This year she will be teaching the all new “Ear Candy” class where students will explore listening to music as a musician and the fundamentals of performing.
